SERVICE PROVISION POLICIES

STATEMENT OF PURPOSES

  • To provide service that is responsible to the philosophy that all women and children have the fundamental right to live without fear, discrimination and abuse. 

  • To provide strictly confidential, safe, compare think hint of procreate care for women and children who are oppressed, abused, discriminated against and living in intolerable domestic situations. 

  • To provide assistance to women and children escaping domestically violent situations in caring for their physical and emotional safety. 

  • To provide safe and support either systems, where women and women with children can escape violence, and begin to attain independence and equality without fear. 

  • To provide a 24 hour supported crisis service for victims of domestic violence, to escape that situation.

  •  the service be provided which recognizes the rights, dignity and independence of those who receive support.  The Mallee Domestic Violence Service will work actively towards empowering Service users to restore control of their lives. 

  • To provide information regarding housing, legal, medical, social welfare and educational options for service users to enable them to make informed decisions about their life. 

  • To develop and implement community education programs with relation to the issues of domestic violence for the general and professional community.

  • To foster community responsibility for addressing the problem of domestic violence and promote the right to safety and well-being for all members of the community

  • To provide a co-ordinated approach to service delivery with other relevant agencies.

  • To facilitate access and equity to service provision for all victims of domestic violence regardless of race, culture or religion.

  • To promote and actively participate in programs which address the issue of domestic violence and its ramifications for individuals and society.

  • The service will actively promote women and women with children to participate actively in decision making within the service organisation.

SERVICE OBJECTIVES

  • To provide utmost security and confidentiality.  To assist in the development and implementation of community education and prevention programs which recognize that domestic violence is a crime directly related to issues of gender and power within the community and within the family. 

  • The two provides safe, emergency, and short to medium term supported accommodation the women and women with children escaping domestic violence, which is non discriminatory.

  • The refuge service component will have an Australian wide catchment area which will accept referrals from women and children in all areas of Australia depending on availability of beds. 

  • With the provision of safe, a managing sitcom and action, the service will own to provide crisis intervention and resolution, safe, secure, long term housing, independent living with links to informal and formal community networks and supports. 

  • To establish protocols in to sell it taking into the fat services for non inhalation speaking back ground women and children and culturally relevant and responsive support services and networks. 

  • To provide safe and supported crisis accommodation for women with an alcohol and drug related dependency escaping domestic violence.  To provide safe and supported crisis accommodation for women with psychiatric problems who are escaping domestic violence. 

  • The service will provide appropriate resources, skills, information and support to enable service users to work toward impairment, independence, safety and self determination. 

  • The service will assist in the coordination of appropriate services according to the individual needs of service users. 

  • The service will actively advocate on behalf of women and children, and assist service users to obtain housing, welfare, legal, medical and educational provisions. 

  • To provide a multi-disciplinary team to work cooperatively with Australian wide network service women's Refuge Referral Service. 

  • The service will develop and maintain local, regional Australian wide links with relevant referral and support services. 

  • The service will develop and implement community education or programs which will raise the awareness in the community to the incidence of domestic violence and incest. 

  • The service will keep accurate statistical data and conduct research, in order to develop an accurate and informed understanding of the problem of domestic violence and it's extent in the Mallee region, and New South Wales border region. 

  • To liaise and provide information training and consultation to community a chance is, professional persons working with survivors of domestic violence. 

  • To establish support groups and in carriage the development of self help groups and act as a resource base for such groups. 

  • The two advocate change at social, economic, political, medical and legal labels. 

  • To participate in working towards achieving and maintaining adequate resources for the provision of services to survivors and for changes in legislation and policy doing with domestic violence. 

  • And to provide emotional support and advocacy for survivors who wish to proceed with legal action. 

  • To develop and maintain ongoing education or development for program starts to facilitate Service responsiveness to user needs. 

  • To establish and maintain links with other refuge services throughout Australia. 

  • To actively encourage the development of programs for offenders of domestic violence with other relevant agencies who addressed the issues of domestic violence. 

  • The service will adopt formal, accessible internal grievance procedures for service uses. 

  • The the service will actively work with service users to identify and understand the domestic violence patterns and repetitive cycle of abuse, and the issue of transgenerational abuse.

  • Consultation and support for all persons professionals and agencies about disclosures and mandatory reporting etc.
