FAMILY VIOLENCE PREVENTION NETWORKS:

The Family Violence Prevention Network brings together service providers who have contact with people who may be experiencing family violence.  This includes health workers, schools, family violence services, police, youth and family services, and others interested in the prevention of family violence in their local community.

The Networks aim to prevent family violence by raising awareness in the broader community and encouraging service providers and key professional agencies to share their knowledge and work together to improve overall service provision at a local level.

NETWORKS IN THE MALLEE REGION:

Networkers take part in other regional and statewide networks and forums, may have input into policy development, and help to disseminate a range of information on family violence services.

Family Prevention Networks across Victoria are supported by  11 Family Violence Prevention Networkers.

There are two Networks in the Mallee Region.

• Northern Mallee meet  at  Mallee Sexual Assault Unit, Mildura.
• Southern Mallee meet  at the SES Building, Swan Hill.

These quarterly meetings provide the opportunity for workers to:

• Promote their service and to develop linkages with other agencies
• Improve the quality of client referrals by learning about other services at a local level
• Have access to training and current information on relevant issues
• Identify gaps in service provision and lobby for those services.
• Plan training and professional development

The Mallee Network publishes a quarterly newsletter keeping those with an interest in the elimination of family violence informed of initiatives, both at a local and statewide level, training opportunities, current research and special projects etc.
